Chapter sixteen

Chapter

Hope bubbled inside her only to be crushed as the line surged forward. Inside the room the Original soldiers circled around her team until they covered all the walls. At the center sat a woman in all white. She sat at a holo desk her hands steeped a smile on her face.

“Welcome to my ship your Highness.” She tossed her blond hair over her shoulder and sat back. As relaxed as the woman looked Miranda couldn’t help but feel the tension grow in the room. This was no safe space no matter what the woman wanted to project. The room was otherwise empty. The walls were a shimmering white. Holo projected more than likely.

Holo projected rooms were common on larger ships. They provided for ever changing needs in the main storage and interior floors. The rest and eating quarters would be normal rooms, but to accommodate cargo of varying size, many original carriers used empty layouts and holo walls to create the needed spaces. That’s what this room looked like. A storage room turned temporary office for the prince’s visit. Lucky him.

Adam stepped forward. His helmet visor was unshielded, so his face was on full display.

“I am Adamantium, first in line to the Imperial throne. Son of Marcus, Emperor supreme of the known galaxies and Droid territories. Who do I have the honor of addressing?” Adam didn’t bow as courtesy required, but the raise of his eyebrow was enough of a concession to say, I might be powerful, but I recognize that you are in charge here.

“Well, well. The prince himself. We are honored,” she waved her hand around indicating the rows of soldiers still piling into the room. Miranda stiffened. This was a show of force. A, you might be Imperial Ironsides, but I have a whole ship of regular soldiers at my disposal that do whatever I say. Miranda looked to Adam. His back remained stiff and upright, but his manors matched that of any Original. If he’d kissed her hand, it couldn’t have been more polite. Miranda wanted to gag. She stopped herself from moving. She’d be no help if the droid shut her suit down again.

“My name is Victorina. It seems you got my message?” She raised her left eyebrow. The light curve of it must have been plucked. Miranda didn’t know anyone who was born with such thin eyebrows. It was a style among the elite to have their bodies shaped to match styles. As a farmer’s daughter she’d never had access to such luxuries. Victorina had manicured nails, quaff hair that floated around her face like a halo and a necklace of glittering stone. It was most likely a power gem large enough to run a ship. It sat there between the top folds of her breasts on full display. She probably had a holo shield on that made her look skinnier than she was too.

“Yes,” Adam said. His back as straight as ever. There was no pretense in his Ironside outfit. The visible setting showed off his slim figure and muscled arms.
